Creatives Want Change Now Offers College Scholarships!

For the past five years, Creatives Want Change has been shaping the future of fashion by providing pre-college programs, mentorships, internships, and outreach opportunities within the fashion industry.

While these are our program pillars, there was one we have been striving to add—college scholarships. This year, that goal became a reality.

We are proud to announce that all current and upcoming Fellows can earn scholarships starting at $10,000. These scholarships are designed to help eliminate financial barriers to college, ensuring that our Fellows—who have already gained valuable experience through our pre-college programs, mentorships, and internships—can successfully launch their careers in fashion.

To bring this to life, we are partnering with our sponsor companies. Through our new collaboration with The Children’s Place, three of our Fellows will have the unique opportunity to mentor with their design team. From these three, one scholar will be selected for a summer internship with The Children’s Place and awarded a college scholarship to support their fashion education.

A staple in supporting the next generation of Black designers, Urban Outfitters is also partnering with us to offer another one of our scholarships, accompanied by an internship for a chosen Fellow.

These scholarships offer our Fellows financial freedom and ensure that we continue to support them beyond their pre-college experience. At Creatives Want Change, we are committed to providing Black designers with the resources, support, and development opportunities needed to thrive.

Too often, as Black creatives, we aren’t afforded the same opportunities or visibility as our white counterparts. And in an industry that profits off of Black ideas and culture, there must be more representation at the top.

At Creatives Want Change, we are positioning ourselves to be a leader in developing the next generation of Black fashion leaders. These new scholarships are just the latest way we are making that vision a reality.
